Leon starts off the check-in with his review of the classic 5 Deadly Venoms.  Does it still hold up as a childhood classic? In keeping with nostalgic movies, Rick discusses one of his favorites Smokey and the Bandit. While it wasn’t the greatest movie of all time, the Firebird is still a beloved car.  Vin discusses the results of his physical and the realization that his diet will have to drastically change to live healthily. Mack’s baby girl turns 6 months and shares some highlights of this milestone.  

Next, we discuss Vin’s concept of BL’AMERICA.  Just imagine if all the Black athletes in America got together and competed in the Olympics as their own country. The guys weigh in. And,the guys also opine on a couple that has a sexual impasse and we discuss if it’s ok for a partner to refuse fellatio and still enjoy the comforts of living expense-free.

This is the 100th episode! 

The podcast has gone through several evolutions including the format, personnel, and of course the locations in which it’s recorded. It started in the small hot box studio in a WeWork, then the guys eventually began recording at Gotham Podcast Studios. And, today, due to the pandemic, they are recording from their homes. But, the show has only gotten better over time.

In this episode, the guys celebrate this milestone by strolling down memory lane and talking about the ups and downs of producing a talk show with your friends.  We want to thank everyone who has had a hand in getting the show to this point. After a little over a year in the making, L discusses his new business venture olive oil infused with CBD called DRZL.  Alaric joins us from L.A. but his Apple laptop seems to have a worm in it.  Meanwhile, Vin is having a pretty uneventful week except for refinancing his home. Welcome to another episode of Decoding 40!

Spring is in full swing and Alaric’s regular gardener is too busy to take care of his garden.  He finds a replacement and finds some ancestral justice. L.O. discusses his perspective of the hike and his weird commute via the PATH to N.J.  Mack is trying to finalize his plans for his second wedding anniversary and his wife’s first Mother’s Day.

Next, we discuss the incredulous remarks by Senator Tim Scott, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Representative Jim Clyburn who all fell into the sunken place to suggest that America “is not a racist country.”  What does this mean for the struggle of Black Americans in the US? And, why have the Democrats once again decided to forfeit the high ground while bargaining the safety and livelihood of Black people?
