We’re back this week with another funny and informative episode of Decoding 40.
The conversation starts off with our take on the latest Verzuz battle between Bounty Killer and Beenie Man. Listen to hear who we think won. We also discuss some of the footwear fashion of the late 80’s. Before Jordan’s and Timbs we had Travel Fox, Clark’s, Patrick Ewing Pony’s. The crew shares their opinion on their favorite groups from Tribe Called Quest to Mobb Deep. We also discuss Ice Cube and his influence on West Coast Hip Hop and the culture.
In the wake of multiple murders of Black people at the hands of law enforcement culminating weeks ago with the murder of George Floyd, protest across the planet have been picking up steam and have become organized with a list of demands. L.O. expresses his frustration towards organizations whose purported missions are to fight for the liberation of Black people. As he sees it, too many so-called “militant” organizations and gun toting gangsters are completely silent during this period of global protest and should be at the protests protecting the protestors. Finally, Mack is convinced that the FBI or another clandestine organization attacked his brand new Apple computer for speaking truth to power.
