Compromised Infrastructure | Episode 51

We’re back this week with another funny and informative episode of Decoding 40

The conversation starts off with our take on the latest Verzuz battle between Bounty Killer and Beenie Man. Listen to hear who we think won. We also discuss some of the footwear fashion of the late 80’s. Before Jordan’s and Timbs we had Travel Fox, Clark’s, Patrick Ewing Pony’s. The crew shares their opinion on their favorite groups from Tribe Called Quest to Mobb Deep. We also discuss Ice Cube and his influence on West Coast Hip Hop and the culture.

In the wake of multiple murders of Black people at the hands of law enforcement culminating weeks ago with the murder of George Floyd, protest across the planet have been picking up steam and have become organized with a list of demands. L.O. expresses his frustration towards organizations whose purported missions are to fight for the liberation of Black people. As he sees it, too many so-called “militant” organizations and gun toting gangsters are completely silent during this period of global protest and should be at the protests protecting the protestors. Finally, Mack is convinced that the FBI or another clandestine organization attacked his brand new Apple computer for speaking truth to power.

DE-COVID-40 | Episode 50

What’s good Decoding40 family? It’s been a minute since we’ve recorded and unless you live in a cave you know that the CoronaVirus, Covid-19 or the not so-tender Rona has changed our lives forever.

We have all been affected by this pandemic and thankfully we are all here and healthy. Episode 50 is a run down of all of our experiences with the virus. Join us for this episode as we discuss Alaric recovering from the virus, L.O. and his adventures in remote learning, Vin dealing with the stress of being an essential worker in the belly of the beast and Mack dealing with the unfortunate loss of his father due to the virus.

On April 7th, Mack Burnett II succumbed to COVID-19 having lived 83 long and beautiful years. He was a father, brother, mentor and poet. A soft spoken man with a spirit full of fire. Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to Mack and his family.

This episode is dedicated to Mr. B and all of the loved ones we’ve lost during this surreal period of time.
