21 Jerk Salute | Episode 32

Welcome to another episode of Decoding40.  The whole crew is united once again as we go through a myriad of topics.

Alaric breaks down the failed immigration border policy and shares a story about a woman looking for asylum here in the United States.  We then shift gears and talk about the connection between Hip Hop and the prison industrial complex.

Our Whiskey Warrior of the Week is Mike Cole who brought us Slane Irish whiskey.  A very strong robust libation that serves as a great party favor and ointment of all kinds wounds.

We then answer the question if loud and raunchy women are more or less attractive?  Is being loud for the sake of being loud sexy? Or, are only women who are saying something worthwhile ladylike? Then Mack sets us up with a story about a young man who killed himself masturbating an insane number of times.

We then get into the emotional and weird drama that played itself out in courtroom of the Amber Guyger trial.  Are Black people just too forgiving when it comes to trauma inflicted upon them? We then discuss the Long Island teacher who decided to make a mockery of slavery by having her students create funny captions for pictures of slaves. This is America in 2019!

Voltron Will Have to Wait | Episode 31

Alaric is late to the studio so Vin, Mack and L.O. pass the time and meander through a host of topics until he arrives.  The guys discuss the latest news on the orange clown currently serving as president of the United States and how quickly he will shade his closest allies. Will he go to prison? Will Rudy Guiliani go to prison? Also, what’s the new look for 50? And, are we less responsible than our parents? Or, just more impoverished?

This week’s libation is brought to us by Slane Whiskey.

Gaga Balls and N*gga Wake Up Calls | Episode 30

Mack starts it off by telling us about the issues he’s having with getting a prescription for his Warby Parker glasses in hopes of replacing his creepy reader glasses.  The guys then discuss L.O.’s date to see J. Lo’s movie Hustler and answers the question if he had to put out for the evening.

How do you feel about being asked to donate to a charity at the register of your local grocery or pharmacy? The guys give their take on their generosity when hit with the pressing question seeking a donation.  It’s flu season and this leads into a conversation about the flu shot and whether or not the guys submit to taking the shot.

This week’s libation is brought to us by Filibuster whiskey. We discuss the etiquette and the proper size bottle you should send us for reviews and for bringing bottles to gatherings.

The Clueless actress that everyone loves to hate, Stacey Dash, makes the news for her recent arrest related to domestic violence charges and we arrange her very own n*gga wake up call.  After that, we meander into gun ownership, gun rights, exorbitant college fees, random career paths, gaga ball, a secret white people’s game; Benzi boxes; Toyota Cressidas; Chris Redd and SNL; a night out at a Gentlemen’s Factory event and the proper ways to network.

Illuminati & Friends | Episode 29

Join us this week as we take a trip down the rabbit hole and discuss some of our favorite conspiracy theories.

No matter what you read or hear, it is #superfacts that Mr. Roger’s was a sniper for the C.I.A.  But, did America really go to the moon? Whether we did or not, we highly recommend that you DO NOT run up on Buzz Aldrin with that rah rah cause he’ll knock you out. Do aliens exist and are they secretly running the world from Area 51?  Maybe you believe that all Hollywood stars worship Baphomet and dine on Iraqi babies at the annual Illuminati, blood sacrifice gala, Sweat and Tears?  Everyone has that one theory they ride for. Join us on social media to discuss yours.

Hey Baby … STFU! | Episode 28

We start off discussing some of the cheapest and harshest drinks known to man. Walk with us down memory lane as we talk about our first drink in our first apartment.  From Georgi Vodka to Gerst beer and hand-weighed ounces of weed, we went the Frank Sinatra route and did it our way.

Alaric shares a story that involved him, a woman, a couple of 64 oz bottles of Olde English malt liquor and an exchange with a Honda Accord driver carrying a two-piece. Let’s just say it didn’t end well.  We change up the pace with another infamous L.O. subway story. Apparently, there is no shortage of crazy women on the train and even a baby can get told to S.T.F.U.  We all agree it’s time for all of us to get back into the gym and maybe even get a group rate on a trainer.

Next, we talk about the current scourge and alarming statistics of mass shootings. The first question is should mass shooting statistics include gang violence?  Depending on the intentions of the shooter, are these acts of violence, terroristic in nature or just crazy people with guns?

And, in the latest installment of “This Week in Racism” we discuss the story of Jerri Kelly, a white woman from Arkansas, who pulled a gun on four teens who were fundraising for their football team.

Resurrecting Black Jesus [feat. Slink Johnson] Pt. 2 | Episode 27

Welcome back to the second half of this two-part episode featuring Slink Johnson. We continue the conversation touching on a bevy of topics including the parent/child dynamic when it comes to snacks and kids trying to get over on their parents, the legalization and the impact of weed culture across America and personal vendettas.

We also get into the Popeyes chicken sandwich craze along with a few other fads that Americans went insane over.  And, we talk about courtesy within your marriage. What time is too late to come in the house when your married?  Mack shares a story of coming in late, but Vin crosses the line and shares his interpretation of what “really” had happened that weekend. It’s baffling how one beer turns into an all nighter ending with an angry wife.  Slink gets very personal sharing his real life “situation” and theory on one man, multi-women relationships. Also, does a wealthier man get away with more in a relationship?

We finish the episode with a shout to our Whiskey Warrior, Mike Cole, who gifted us with a nice bottle of Jameson Irish whiskey. And, if you want to be our Whiskey Warrior of the Week, please send an email to Decoding40@gmail.com for details.

You’ll hear all this and more in this Friday’s edition of Decoding 40. If you are on social media be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and on Patreon.

A special shout out to Slink Johnson aka Black Jesus for joining us and being such a transparent and hilarious guest.

Thanks again for listening to another episode of Decoding40.

Resurrecting Black Jesus [feat. Slink Johnson] | Episode 26

Join us for the first episode of a special two-part interview with our friend, the one and only, divinely-inspired Slink Johnson, the star of Adult Swim’s Black Jesus.  Slink joins us for a hilarious episode sharing his unadulterated, uncut brand of comedy. Slink gives us some insight on how he got started acting, how it feels to play Black Jesus, cultural icons he’s smoked with and the meaning behind the #smokeyours movement.

We start off by catching up with the crew and finding how they spent their time off. L.O. goes to a wedding. Rick does best at recreating Daddy Day Care. Vins takes some mental days from work. And, Mack shares his Biggest Loser successes.

The distinction of #WhiskeyWarrioroftheWeek goes to friend of the show, Brian Adams, who introduced us to Oban 14 Year Single Malt Scotch. In all honesty, the segment starts off pretty rocky, but in the presence of Black Jesus, this may be the greatest redemption we have ever witnessed. The crew relearns a valuable lesson on how great things can and do come in small packages.

The Legend of Kuato | Episode 25

We jump right into this episode with a flashback and cautionary tale from Alaric that really proves if it is too good to be true then it probably is. He meets a beautiful woman at a bar and then the encounter goes left. This leads us to ask a couple of questions, “How shallow are we?” and ”Would you date a woman differently-abled or possessing non-traditional beauty?”

It’s another trip for Mack aka Mr. International and this time it’s Greece.  Mack gives us the good, the bad and the hilarious parts of his trip and how a very old man and ex-wrestler worked together to conspire against unsuspecting travelers. You have to hear this one!

This week’s libation is Grass Widow courtesy of our first Whiskey Warrior Nelson Hume. A very good whiskey, perfect for after or maybe during work.

We then switch gears and discuss the fallout from the RocNation and NFL partnership and whether or not if the NFL achieved its goal of changing the narrative. Despite an avalanche of public opinion, we cut through some of the noise to find out if there’s any there…there.

We also discuss the recent firing of officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was directly involved with the choking death of Eric Garner.  What took so long to fire him and was it enough?

Stick to the Script | Episode 24

We start off answering the question if it is possible in today’s world to humanize customer service. The crew discusses their experiences and frustration with foreign call centers and the scripted conversations they use to supposedly empathize with customers.  We all agree that better training and the empowerment of workers could lead to a happier customer base.

Next, we discuss how tired and bored we are with the current search for a Democratic presidential nominee.  The coverage of the Democratic field is looking more like a WWE wrestling match rather than a search for a viable candidate to lead the free world.  In a country so divided by racial and economic disparities is their one person to bring the left and right back to the middle.

From politics to whiskey–because that is what we do.  This week’s libations was brought to you by Larceny Whiskey and we ask whether or not: Buy or Not Buy?  We can all agree that it’s a nice sip but not really one we would buy with the exception of L.O.  We wrap up the episode to discuss investments from bitcoin to Canadian weed to Iraqi dinars we all have a good investment story.

Go Back to Africa A.$.A.P. | Episode 23

Welcome back to another fun episode of Decoding40.

We start the show off by catching up with the crew as they share thoughts on their hatred for busy work; experience with #pottybootcamp, #Aquaphor and the #terribletwos, and witnessing a slow speed police car chase in uptown Manhattan.

We then discuss a couple of other police incidents. One involves a case of police brutality with a twist and the other is Mack getting away from the police. Mack then updates us on his recent trip to Vermont that included a visit to the Ben and Jerry’s Factory with a double scoop of MAGA mixed with Sons of Anarchy.

We then turn our attention to A$AP Rocky and his predicament in Sweden. **FYI – he’s since been released and found guilty prior to the release of this episode** Should Black people support him or any other person who doesn’t support their own community? And, did ASAP get his nigga wake up call?

We finish up this episode to discuss times when we’ve been on the short end of the stick when it comes to skipping and proper line etiquette. Hands down though, Alaric wins this week’s “Most Racist Experience” Award by retelling a story of a white woman skipping him in line at the club.
