The top 20 albums are a blasphemous arrangement and we hope that Rolling Stone continues to receive all of the hellish backlash it deserves for this list.

The guys also talk about the outrageous and fictional story that swept the internet about a murderous elephant. The elephant had supposedly not only trampled the 70-year-old woman but returned to her funeral service to desecrate her body. They say elephants never forget. What could this woman have done to deserve this kind of retribution?

For this week’s Check-In, Vin celebrates his wife’s birthday with some less than stellar edibles but makes up for it by gifting her a massage package at a nearby spa. Alaric comes close to losing his cool at the local CVS. They make him wait an hour, all to tell him they didn’t have what he needed. Self-checkout comes to Harlem’s Whole Foods much to L.O.’s delight, but will he finds himself on an episode of Curb your Enthusiasm when a clerk can only handle one person at a time?

Next, we discuss the mass shooting that occurred in Buffalo, New York, at a Tops Friendly Markets store in the predominantly Black, East Side neighborhood. Ten black people were killed and three other people were injured by a radicalized 18-year-old white supremacist. In between recording and releasing this show, tragically, an 18-year-old resident of Uvalde, Texas, fatally shot 19 students and two teachers and wounded 17 others at Robb Elementary School. The killer, a student at a nearby high school, earlier that day shot his grandmother in the face after an argument, killing her as well. We support every community and everyone affected personally by these violent attacks, we also recognize that it is time for action and it’s time to hold politicians, city officials, and silent moderates accountable for change to keep our fellow citizens safer.

The conversation also touches on reports that Mayor Adams’ new budget will see an increase in the NYPD budget while social services and education budgets will be dramatically slashed.

Next, in This Week in Racism, the guys talk about the recent viral video of two police officers violently breaking up a fight in a New Jersey mall. The officers quickly moved to restrain a Black teenager, while taking a strikingly passive approach to the other teenager who apparently appeared white to them. And, lastly, the guys talk about a recent story out of Salt Lake City, Utah where an apparent shootout occurred between the police and … a four year old?

Next, we discuss the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and the murder trial of Ahmaud Arbery. These two cases happening simultaneously gripped the nation and the verdicts helped to further polarize this nation.  While justice was definitely served in the murder trial in Brunswick Georgia, the Rittenhouse case may have emboldened white supremacy and vigilantism in America.  

After that, it’s movie review time. This week we reviewed the Netflix feature, The Harder They Fall.  WARNING: Vin aka the Spoiler drops a helluva lot of plot in this episode, so if you haven’t seen the movie you should skip this segment until you have watched it. 

Lastly, we pay our respects to Virgil Abloh.  He was a true visionary with his unapologetic stance of bringing marginalized points of view in design to the forefront. He, unfortunately, lost his battle with cancer earlier this week and he will be truly missed the world over.  Rest in Power Virgil.

And, school is fully back in session after a year and a half of distance learning and it’s safe to say the crew is very happy.  Alaric’s son gets suited and booted up for his day of Pre-k.  He and his wife hire a new babysitter to help manage the day-to-day operations at home. Vin’s youngest starts High School and he’s super proud of her.  Life has its ups and downs but he’s learning how to navigate in this new phase of life.  Like all of us, L.O. is happy that his sons are back in school and is spending the extra time binging on some of his favorite TV programs.  Mack’s business is booming but with that comes lawyers, lawyers, and more lawyers.  More money, more problems. 

Next, the crew has a heartfelt conversation on the topic of fatherhood.  They share their experiences of being dads and how they navigate these uncharted waters without having some lessons from their own fathers.

Next, we discuss the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and where we were on that fateful day. This attack changed the American experience as we knew it forever. We also introduce a new segment: Negroes at the Theatre. Our first review is of the sci-fi movie, Tomorrow War. Is Hollywood actively pushing a subtle white supremacist agenda?

Lastly, we pay our respects to the iconic film and television actor, Michael K Williams, who recently died at the age of 54 in his New York apartment. His portrayals in the Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and Lovecraft Country were nothing less than stellar and cemented his legacy in the arts. He will be truly missed.

We discuss the case out of Biscayne Bay Park involving Chief Raimundo Atesiano who received three years in prison for violating the civil rights of two young Black men. The guys also talk about the bill passed by the Texas Senate that seeks to erase the atrocities from this country’s history.

The crew ways in on this, the cancelation of Lovecraft Country and its correlation to the movement to suppress Critical Race Theory and positive imagery of Black and Brown people in America.

Luckily, he’ll have the help of his in-laws with childcare.

This segues into a discussion on the conservative views of the Supreme Court and how they are influenced by the political climate.
